About ADCA

ADCA is the non-government national peak body representing the interests of the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector. Established in 1966, it provides a voice for those who work to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs.

ADCA collaborates with government and non-government organisations, business and the community to promote evidence-informed, socially just approaches that confront the health, economic and social harm alcohol and other drugs cause individuals, families, communities and the nation.  We recognise the importance of effective partnerships with a wide range of organisations in and outside the AOD sector.

ADCA is a not-for-profit organisation with the majority of its funding coming from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. Additional funding comes from membership fees, sponsorship and through policy and research projects.

Members include organisations, services, agencies and individuals engaged in AOD services nationwide. ADCA counts among its membership major university research centres, tertiary institutions offering courses in addiction studies and programs for alcohol and other drugs workers, officers of the law and criminal justice system, policy analysts and administrators.

ADCA seeks input from its membership including working groups, and state and territory peaks to guide policy development.

We offer a range of online services and resources to support the AOD sector through the NDSIS, Drugfields.
