The National Drug Research Institute invites you to

Drugs and violence: Toxicology and circumstances of death of homicide victims

A free public seminar by Professor Shane Darke

When: Thursday 7 August 2008 at 1:30pm

National Drug Research Institute Seminar Room
Health Research Campus, Curtin University of Technology
Level 2, 10 Selby Street, Shenton Park, WA 

This seminar will examine how interventions to reduce substance use may have a major impact upon homicide rates. It will report on the drugs present in victims of homicide in New South Wales across a 10 year period. The relationship of intoxication to the circumstances of death will also be examined, including time of day, day of week, place of death and the means of death.

One Shot

'One Shot' is a new resource produced by the kirketon Road Centre in Kings Cross, Sydney.

'One Shot' explores the potential role that injecting drug users may have in the prevention of the transition to injecting among non-injectors. 'One Shot' highlights the important peer role that current injectors can play in embedding messages around safe using.

This half day workshop discusses the evolution of the 'One shot' project.
